Audio (mp3) link provided near the bottom of the poem Troubled Race Your
troubled race long
hast thou toiled beneath
the heavy burden of thy failings Condemned
since ages long past to
suffer the heavy controls of governments For
thine hath forever been a disturbed people torn
between opposed destinies of godhood and deviltry Cursed
perhaps…. by
the confused origins of thy race’s own birth For
in the dawn of thy creation whilst
I separated the ancients of thy race from the lowly beasts so
did I mingle the intellect, the courage and the passions of a god with
the instincts, the savagery and dullness of
those beasts from which I brought you So
that even as thy ancient brethren burst
forth into a new age of mindful and intent reasoning so
did they carry with them the
carnal savageries of their coarse ancestors And
by their own weakness did
they fail to use my gift of sentient enlightenment to
hasten their march toward godhood blaspheming
my gift instead to
serve the dark nature of their vicious kindred For
though they aptly taught themselves spoken words they
spoke of nothing but brutality against their neighbor Though
they made ever greater tools and devices such
were used only for ever greater destruction And
though their knowledge increased by a thousand fold they
bore no hunger for the wisdom by
which knowledge must be tempered Ages
came to pass, turning from one into the next and
chaos reigned high in the hearts of thy forefathers until
a time came when cruel men, in great quests of power seized
dominion over great multitudes of their brethren And
they made kings of themselves and established governments saying
unto the people Behold
my great wisdom and righteousness for
out of mayhem have I created order From
danger have I given thou safety so
that beneath my rule and within my borders shall
thou always find protection But
lo…. the
promises were false For
the new kings and the governments they established dealt
one with the other as greedily and deceitfully as
did the individuals of thy race before
governments were established And
so the evil was not made less and
the chaos not reduced But
woefully, it was made ever greater For
as the power of the new governments was
greater than the power of the chaotic masses so
was the evil of their corruption equally greater And
where there was once hunger for a few caused
by the selfishness of a man now
there came famine for thousands caused
by the greed of a king Where
once there were mere disagreements between men now
there came great wars between nations And
by the heavy yoke of governments did
my children become so desolate of all manner of morality that
never was such corruption thought to be challenged For
they no longer sought righteous behavior for
the sake of goodness but
sought only to adhere beneath the laws of government for
fear of retribution And
what small sand specks of righteousness still
remained in the hearts of my children began to fade Until
now…. that
thy race has deviated so greatly from thine early beginnings that
no longer may I call you my children For
as your petty kings, your emperors and corrupt politicians hath
replaced my righteousness with mere law so
hath thine own soul and heart become slothful so
that no longer doest thou think to question anything thinking
only in accordance to the dictates of thy ruler For
do you not condemn murder only
until such time as thy ruler bids you fight his war? Hast
thou not spoken bitterly of the greed of the merchant but
remained silent even as your government starves
the children of other nations? And
hath not thou, by thine own moral sloth perverted
what could have been the mind of a god into
no more than the brain of an obedient pet? Truly
thou hast forgotten my righteousness making
gods in my stead of
evil men and corrupt governments which
now command your small lives I
shall call you back then away
from the rulers who have corrupted your greatness For
better that you forever struggle against thine own failings than
promote above you rulers with equal failings For
though they shall surely control thy evil so
shall they smother thy goodness For
I made they race destined for the greatness of godhood and
even in a failed struggle still
shall thou come closer to that greatness And
if they race continue to blaspheme thine own destiny better
then that I should raise another in thy place and
return thine own kind to
the low beasts from which I first raised thee from which thou hast so stubbornly refused to raise thyselves
