Wade Derreberry Obituary

Wade Derreberry, 81, of Chesapeake died Oct. 13, 2001, at his home in Andrews, N.C.

He was a native of Cherokee County, N.C., a son of the late Parker and Bessie Pullium Derreberry.

Wade was a retired surface coal miner. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Montgomery Chapter 47 RAM. He was also a member of the Beni Kedem Shrine, Charleston, and an amateur and HAM radio operator.

He is survived by: his wife, Mary Evelyn Crawford Derreberry; two sons, John Derreberry of St. Albans, Jerry Derreberry of Chesapeake; sister, Evelyn Martindill of Washington Courthouse, Ohio; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Graveside service and burial were 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, in Valley River Baptist Church Cemetery, Andrews, N.C., with the Rev. Roy Phillips officiating. Masonic graveside rites were conducted.

Townson-Rose Funeral Home, Murphy, N.C., was in charge of arrangements.
