A Summer Walk
¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥God, the cooling breeze you sent to accompany the sun
_was magnificent!
As along this river, all that I could want and need
… was for my eyes to feast
And even with an aching heart … I felt full
Funny how that goesThe sky with all it’s pictures formed amongst the vibrant blue
Fields and fields of yellow wildflowers, blooming in their splendor;
with blue and purple alfalfa, peaking out here and there
Wild roses, sagebrush and wildberries
Providing bears and coons and birds and squirrels a dinner
They overlooked the shores of the white-capped waters of the
Thompson ; rippling,
from the wind’s enchanting touchDancing trees of silver; oh how they sparkled in the sun
Creating a magical fantasyland, with cottonwood flying around me
All that could be heard was the rustling of the leaves above,
Startled __ I bent my neck, to view a magpie break silenceThis was a summer’s day, for writing songs, for poems and photos
A time to walk the dog, and greet those sporadic passersby
To take in the sounds and sights of gulls, the cranes, the geese,
the hawks and eagles
A moaning train, to sound it’s forlorn cry, in the distance;
once more, did make me yearn for my ocean homeMount Paul, yes, it accented its green and grey textures,
against an infinite sky
This is the real treasure, the real gold and my heart’s delight
For all of this, is who I am,
And I shall gladly share it with you __ these ways of a heart
