Americium   in Smoke   Detectors Janet Kuypers 8/4/19 on Facebook and Twitter A Boy Scout w/ an atomic energy badge tried to build a reactor, adding Americium from smoke detectors to other radioactive elements he “found”. Fearing excess energy in his backyard, he drove off with it, & police stopped him for erratic driving. The EPA buried his lab in Utah.
