Le mystère d’amour. Love’s Mystery. Poem.Translation.Jo-Elle

***
Le mystère d’amour
Jo-elle
  Ils se parent de couleurs,
  de leurs plus beaux atours
  pour montrer leur valeur,
  se promènent alentour.

  Il semble que leur coeur,
  amoureux pour toujours,
  veut montrer sa vigueur
  en chantant ce beau jour.

  Avec quelque impudeur
  ils arborent leur amour,
  et affichent leur ardeur
  comme de vrais troubadours.

  Alors ils passent des heures
  à danser, faire la cour,
  sans soucis des rieurs
  vers leur but sans détour.

  Pourquoi vont-ils sans peur,
  comment savent-ils toujours
  où trouver le bonheur,
  c’est le mystère d’amour.

 Love’s mystery

They dress in colour,
in their best finery,
to show their valour,
and walk without hurry.

It’s their heart’s nature
to be in love always.
To show their vigour
they sing throughout the days.

Like real troubadours
they display their feelings,
express their ardour,
immodest little things.

That’s why they spend hours
court without any shame,
coloured like flowers,
flying straight to their aim.

Why they go fearless,
in complete liberty,
how they find happiness,
that is love’s mystery.

Jo-Elle (re-)discovered writing very recently, when an accident put her professional career on hold for two months.  She has been writing poems since, mostly to learn English as a member of AllPoetry.com, but her best poems are in her mother tongue.
An analytical mind and an eternal learner, she writes about any subject, from nature to the human condition, which she observes from a detached point of view, and even more so when the subject is close to her heart.

Life Collects. Poem. Scott Hastie.

Life collects, pools around you.

It paints its highlights,

Nothing there you can destroy

Or begin again.

Calm in aquamarine beauty,

Barely a hint of surf’s snowy trim.

Today the sea is out

But will come again.

For the moment,

On the beach,

My love and I,

Naked and blissful as can be.

In the soft, sun baked sand

History between my toes.

Sense how

Even the smooth stones ache

With stories of their own

In the shuddering light of day.

Tingling Point. Poem. Simon Miller

For blank hours our bus had swung,
Steadily grinding down parabolas
Against the wheeling empty sky.
Riding a sluiced track of decaying tar
An extenuated rattling afterthought,
A tattooed apology to progress.
Mountain slopes pinned like curtains
Against our backs. White tooth-stones
Edging the dropped jaw of the road.
A lifetime below in the darkened creases
Of the earth, a secret string unravelled,
Melt water, in an unvoiced torrent.
Then in the crook of an alpine elbow
The world tipped upward into view
Yawning lazily like a stretching giant.
Tingling point.
A void of expanded air
Pulling saw-blade peaks white with snow
Out of a silent, breathless distance.
Only the ticking of the cooling engine
A bleating goat, some buzzling insect
Remind us that beyond the remoteness
Here, the world is still moving.

Simon Miller teaches English and Drama at an international school in Thailand where he lives with his wife and three growing children. He has written several plays for young people. His own childhood was spent between Botswana and England and he has rarely stopped exploring since. Social history, culture and the natural world are his main fascinations, and particularly the points where all three meet.

Drunk Smile.Poem.Cigeng Zhang.

The river is rippling like beer foams
A slightly drunk smile draining away
Everything turns as normal

The river is rippling like beer foams
Moonlight joggling over the dim water
Memory is broken into kaleidoscope

The river is rippling like beer foams
A slightly drunk smile draining away

Spectre. Poem. Sara L. Russell

 7th January 2013 02:04am

Like a child who fell through the cracks in welfare
like a doll falling through a pit in a nightmare
I am reeling in time and space like a lost satellite;
drawn closer and closer to a swallowing void of dark matter

I am hopeless, futureless and desolate; abandoned in time,
No-one reaches out to catch my hand in the darkness,
Silence screams like tinnitis in the chasm of space
time lurches on and I am immobile

I am lost and broken like a shattering of dreams
like a smattering of blood, a withering of roses
there is no hope in me, there is no future, not even death;
only the beckoning  spectre of age, that makes caricatures of us all.

Beyond the Writing on the Wall. Poem. Trevor Maynard

Beyond the writing on the wall
There is brick and crumbling mortar
A sycamore stubbornly clings
Well, it took such a mighty effort to grow roots
Moss, on the other hand, seethes insidiously, in perpetuity
It survives even the most hostile of environments

Old Magic, the Goddess smiles
Mother Earth will ensure the wall will fall
But what will it reveal
A field of golden buttercups
Hawthorn caught up infernal bine
Or land dead and polluted by indifference

Is there a clue in the writing
Is our future writ large
Bit like the dyslexic lovers we are
We only read what we want to read
And go hang reality, go hang truth
Doves, of all creatures alight,
Above the keystone and the founders plaque
Weathered almost away, I read
'This have I, Wall, my part discharged so,
and being, done, thus wall away doth go.'

MY BROTHER AND I.Poem.Robin Marchesi.

Awaiting aeroplanes for separate destinations

My brother and I

Walk together

Through the old streets of Palma.

An advert tempts us toward an exhibition

Showing 15th century instruments of torture.

We visit, instead,

A commemoration.

Old photographs from World War Two.

This war began 1939

Who cares now?

Aliens

We leave the cathedral gallery.

Born in another time, we fight another battle.

My brother and I,

Holding court on a park bench.

Two from one womb,

Immersed by our own private, interlocking, part.

The family from which we came,

And the families before us,

That keeps us a part,

Off springing our own branches.

It seems a miracle

And yet so common,

This touch of the centuries.

How many other brothers and sisters,

Together have trudged these cobbles,

Wondering if they have the where with all,

To sustain, their remaining years,

Without instruments of torture,

Or World War Two?

Neither pilot, nor inquisitor,

Knew of ‘crack’ ‘d ozone layers.

All the battles each generation faces.

It’s only ourselves we punish with oppression,

Not just the oppressed, but so too, the oppressor.

Cultures divide, civilizations decay,

But my brother and I, bonded in blood,

See colour beyond set definition.

Look at all the brothers and sisters

In the world, who stood their ground,

Countless times in countless years,

That we, two, at this millenniums end,

Can be united,

Awaiting aeroplanes for separate destinations
