Rolly Rabbit Poem

Rolly Rabbit Poem

I’m a rabbit

said Rolly Rabbit

I’ve been a rabbit my whole life.

I eat carrots and other plants.

I do my rabbit dance

I wiggle my bunny tail

When I see you I

hop hop hop away

then I stop

and look at you.

Oh Rolly you sure are a rabbit

said  Spunky Squirrel

All you do is eat and

hop hop hop,

You can’t climb a tree

like me.

You have no ears to speak of

said Rolly  Rabbit

and your tail is

so long and so thin

why just look at the thing!

The dog would catch me

on the trail

if I had that tail.

Remember Poem

Remember when a flower was

just a flower

and not a flower pic or a

popular fragrance

Remember when a song was

just a song and not a

hit song.

Remember when a face was just a face

you actually saw

somewhere besides Facebook.

Remember?

Remember when a school wasn’t a

factory,

when a ride was sometimes in the back of a truck,

sometimes in a wagon.

Remember when you’d see people in a field.

Remember when it was a long way to town

and church was a little building with fans

card board fans with Jesus on one side,

because there was no air conditioning,

and there were porches,

not porch-like nothings added as decoration.

Oh we got a lot

out of the engineers

and all of that silicon,

and we left a lot

behind.

What Shall I Say Poem by David Michael Jackson

What Shall I Say

Shall I say I have drifted in silence
with the leaves on this creek
or
I have lain in quiet solitude
with these bleached logs.
Shall I say I am the wind
and have seen the river
into which the creek flows
and the sea.

No,
simply this
and only this,

bottomland corn
a creek
and a young man throwing rocks
at leaves.
