August Poem by Marilyn McIntyre

Augorophobia

august

scorched lawns

trees turn brown with fright

holidays and beaches

and reparing to the cool

august

oppressive, painful despair

inside looking out

mugged breathe sweats

air of the great outdoors

cats sullen

blue jays drop their jays

crows to beat to caw

august

let me out of here

august

my mind curled like rock

drugged and writhing

soul up there at rest

in the crook of the old oak tree

Blessing Unicorn Poem by Marilyn McIntyre

The Unicorn of a Blessing

Flying through myself softly

Sliding through even bone

I travelled to a forbidden land

Where one must wander alone

I knew the shape of a unicorn there

Standing blue, in the depths of a pool

A unicorn, blue, but smiling

Gently I traced the tear in his eye

Removing all need of his lieing.

He answered my touch

In sweet, gentled voice

And told of his lady so fair

Of being a two in a world of one

Where blessings had been so rare

He spoke of the sharing these two had done

In the time since then and before

And I knew of the love of this unicorn

Love, yet so much more.

Why is it then that you are alone

He shifted his head to the sky

Why echoed tremulously on his lips

And escaped from him in a sigh

I flew away home with a tear in my heart

Right next to then and before

And the unicorn lover forlorn and apart

Who waits for God and the passage of time

To bring his lady once more.

Now some call me fool, some view me wise

But I have been there and believe my own eyes

so have your own notions or view me with lies

Still I know the place where the unicorn

Stands alone in a pool and cries.

Where Poem by Marilyn McIntyre

Where
by Marilyn McIntyre
Where?
are poems alive
upon the page
do words have meaning
does the music sing
when no one hears
am i alive when i’m alone
does my breath soar
and reach another’s dreams
will God hear me
can i feel with no other
to give me bounds
and where do my feelings fly
in the night
mysterious and dark and calling
if my eyes cannot see
is it so
and the candle
what of the candle
will it still glow
without tender whispered murmurs
where will my love touch down
must it float forever
meandering among the stars
where does it all go
where does it go
when it’s gone?

Angel Poem by Marilyn McIntyre

Angel Whispers
by Marilyn McIntyre

Angel Whispers
the time is upon us
rest, rest
clouds of snow
drift gently down
rest, rest
violin, serene
words alone
thoughts untangle
time solely owned
rest, rest
sing to your heart
wordlessly murmur
lullabies and time
to rest, to rest
womb and warmth
rockabye, rockabye
shush, hush, dream
to rest, to rest
listen, feel, fly
the angels whisper
rustle, ascend
rest, rest.

A Walk in the Park to Meet God Poem by Marilyn McIntyre

A Walk in the Park to Meet God
by Marilyn McIntyre

i heard You whisper
i heard Your whispers
a sweet sunset stillness
a calm
no storm
a calm
the ancient oak
waves last fall fingers
a calm
no storm
a calm
a sweet, sweet, sunset calm
i knew it was You
Your breath
a slow dawning
of miracle
a running above the snow
floating down the stairs
i dropped my book
my guard for You
my heart
my hold
i was sore, sore, sore, afraid
but i didn’t fall.
