WordPlay

A play on words. Poetry in motion

old man in a wet month in a silent room sitting in a chair

In a silent room

sitting in a chair

being read to by no boy

and too much rain,

I was at those hot gates

I saw the cutlass

we don’t get out until we’ve broken all the commandments

and have denied God

and talked to Him

(He’s on the right side about 60 degrees up for me. You?)

He’s handy for old ladies and

My cat is fond of Him.

He’s not that guy in the book

because once we had the book

we didn’t need

the oral tradition

and the old man

and without them

He became silent

and we no longer listened

……old man in a wet month

in a silent room

sitting in a chair
